Weddings at The Merribee
What was a mid-1800s dairy paddock is now a few hectares of extraordinary garden, laid out as a series of outdoor garden rooms and linked by kilometres of granite paths. There is a rustic timber barn, a restored pioneer cottage, a converted grain silo, and villas on the property for the couple and a small group of guests.

The garden rooms are the gift here. Each one is enclosed and completely different from the last, so you can walk a couple for fifteen minutes and come back with portraits that look like they were taken at four separate venues. Green, layered, soft light under planting. Then the timber barn gives you a warm interior for the reception. Very little of your day gets spent travelling.
Worth knowing before you plan
Numbaa sits just outside Nowra, under two hours from Sydney and a comfortable drive from Wollongong. Because so much of the property is garden, the useful conversation is which garden rooms are looking their best in your month. That changes a lot across a year and it is worth asking the venue when you book.

Do you travel to The Merribee for weddings?
Yes. The Merribee at Numbaa is a short drive from my base in Wollongong, so travelling there is no issue at all. Send your date through and I will confirm whether I am available. Most couples book seven hours of coverage for a full day on a property this size.
Is The Merribee good for wedding photos?
It is one of the best gardens on the South Coast to photograph in. The property is laid out as a series of separate garden rooms, so a short walk gives you portraits that look like several different locations, plus a rustic timber barn for warmer interior shots later in the night.
