The Homestead Berry
wedding photographer
The Homestead is a five-acre property on Homestead Lane, five minutes from the middle of Berry, built in 1864 back when Berry was still called Broughton Creek. If your wedding is here, I would love to document it.

The restored silo and converted farm shed in warm late light
Weddings at The Homestead Berry
A former dairy farm, restored with most of its working history intact: the cowshed, the silo, the homestead, the dairy and the original mill race that once diverted water to the local sawmill. The property is on the Significant Homes Register of NSW. The converted farm shed and silo host the reception, with a covered courtyard and an outdoor dance floor, and rural views running through to the hills.

Photographing here
This is a texture venue. Old brick, weathered timber, corrugated iron, the silo. All of it photographs beautifully in warm light and all of it is exactly what 35mm film does best. The covered courtyard with the dance floor open to the sky is the standout after dark, because you get proper night-sky frames without dragging everybody outside. The views out to the hills are the wide backdrop for portraits.
Worth knowing before you plan
Five minutes from Berry, so guest accommodation and transport are easy, and the village itself is worth ten minutes if you want a couple of frames off site. Because so much of the appeal is the restored farm structures, the useful thing is knowing which ones you can actually shoot in. Worth asking the venue when you book.

The Homestead Berry FAQ
Questions about
The Homestead Berry
Do you photograph weddings at The Homestead Berry?
Yes. The Homestead at Berry is a South Coast venue I would love to shoot, and it is a short drive from Wollongong. The restored 1864 dairy, silo and cowshed give a lot of genuine texture to work with. Send your date through to check whether I am available.
Is The Homestead Berry good for film photography?
It is one of the better venues on the coast for it. Old brick, weathered timber, corrugated iron and the silo all hold warm light in a way 35mm film handles beautifully. A roll can be added to any wedding for $250, which is roughly 24 frames shot alongside the digital coverage.
